Australian Biosphere Conference

March 13 @ 8:00 am - March 15 @ 5:00 pm

The event will be hosted by the Great Sandy Biosphere Management Group and the neighbouring Noosa biosphere and will focus on the development and of programs and promotions to help protect the largest UNESCO-enshrined biosphere in the world.

The inaugural Australian Biosphere Conference 2019 is a first-of-its-kind opportunity to learn, share and celebrate what it means to be part of a vibrant, healthy and connected Biosphere Reserve community. The UNESCO Biosphere Program recognises areas that represent world-renowned terrestrial or coastal ecosystems and demonstrate innovative approaches to living and working in harmony with nature.

As a delegate to the Australian Biosphere Conference 2019, you will enjoy an inspirational program of presentations and exhibits focused on six key Biosphere themes: Biodiversity; Education; Sustainability; Indigenous; Innovation and Economic Development. You will be invited to connect with the artistic and cultural heart of Traditional Owners, learn how to build community capacity and leadership and hear first-hand from our best industry leaders and innovators. All of this … with the ethos of preserving our diverse ecosystems and maintaining the balance between community aspirations and sustainability.

Days one and two of the program incorporate guided art and photographic gallery tours, an expansive exhibitors’ marquee, two themed presentation streams, keynote UNESCO address, interactive panel session and two fully-catered social functions. Day 3 offers the choice of seven exciting and engaging tours aimed at showcasing the richness and diversity of the Great Sandy Biosphere and its community.

“We are all connected” – Whether you be educator or student, industrialist or conservationist, artist or innovator, we invite you to be part of this exciting celebration of Biosphere Reserves and their communities.
