Control of wild dogs is a major issue throughout Queensland and costs the agricultural sector millions of dollars in control costs and lost production. To reduce this impact it is important that annual control of these animals is undertaken.
To assist landholders, Bundaberg regional Council undertakes co-ordinated baiting (1080 – Fluroacetate) programs in March/April and August/September each year. For this program to achieve real results it is important that as many landholders as possible participate in the prgram. Council encourages landholders to form baiting groups with their neighbours to improve the effectiveness of the program.
Council will supply up to 20 free meat baits per landholder registered for the program and who meet conditions for baiting.
Number of free baits issued will be dependent on property size.
Landholders requiring additional baits can purchase factory baits at $2.80 per bait or provide meat to be injected with 1080 – Fluroacetate at no charge.
All meat must be fresh, cut into 125gram pieces and free of bone and fat.
