The ‘New Normal’ for Research and Innovation Webinar

June 5, 2020@9:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

usinesses are operating in a ‘new normal’ of agility, speed to market and tighter cashflows. This may challenge the stereotype of research and development, yet R&D can be agile to help businesses innovate, transform and grow in these troubling times.

Experts from the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF), Food Innovation Australia (FIAL), Impact Innovation, CSIRO and Innovation Connections will reimagine how R&D can drive food and agribusiness innovation. Before attending you will be asked for your perceptions of R&D and innovation. They will summarise and respond to these and answer specific questions in the webinar, suggesting solutions and new approaches.

An overview of funding opportunities and other forms of support for Food and Agribusiness R&D will follow. You’ll then be invited to take a seat on a virtual tour of the DAF Food Research Facilities, and there is an opportunity for you to arrange an in-person tour for your business.

Agenda
1. Introductions
2. The business imperative for R&D (Brian Ruddle of Impact Innovation)
3. Food Innovation Australia case studies (James Krahe)
4. Forms of support:
a. CSIRO Kick-Start (Megan Sebben)
b. Innovation Connections (Anna Daniel)
c. The SME Fund and DAF Research capability (Ross Naidoo)
5. Discussion, summary, recap and discussion of attendee questions
6. Take a seat for a virtual tour of DAF R&D Facilities at Coopers Plains and Cairns.
