The course is conducted at venues across the state using commercial facilities and the cattle of cooperating beef and dairy producers. Usually over 100 cows are made available for training purposes with the major emphasis being placed on practical instruction. Group sizes are limited to no more than 8 to ensure plenty of practice. The first morning of the course is spent discussing anatomy, physiology and the technique of rectal palpation.
This course is a fully accredited unit of competency, AHCLSK408- Pregnancy Test Animals under the National Training Package. Participants will receive a statement of attainment upon successful completion of both practical and theory assessment.
