The Vertebrate Pest Management Course is a week long, intensive event that provides participants with the capacity to develop a pest management plan. Participants experience pest animal monitoring and control techniques and participate in information sessions on the principles behind these techniques.  Researchers present and demonstrate updates on pest animal research and its influences upon industry practice.

Course aims:

To provide high quality training for those implementing vertebrate pest management for agricultural protection and conservation.

Learning outcomes:

  • describe the process to define the pest problem in a local area
  • describe the process of developing an action plan for the management of target pests in a local area
  • recognise animal sign and knowledge of other techniques to survey pest animals
  • determine methods to control pest animals humanely
