● For the irrigation, the Bryants used a recycle dam that capacitates 10ml to seize and reuse run-off water.
● The Bryant’s irrigated about 40 ha of annual ryegrass or clover mix while 20 ha of forage wheat are not irrigated.
● In 2008, they installed a feed pad that cut wastage accorded with silage and hay feeding. It protected wet pastures from pugging and heavy vehicle traffic damages.
● After installing a six-foot-wide bay outlets in 2007, it enabled a fast-watering system that allowed a 16ml per day flow rate in a single irrigation bay. Through this strategical design, a whole hectare is irrigated in only about 40 minutes.
● Sowing of annual pastures and wheat accompanied with the rapid irrigation flow, the Bryant’s improved the efficiency of water use on their Nathalia dairy farm.
Several lessons can be asserted in Bryant’s case study. Due to the faster irrigation, it dramatically cut their most limiting source, water.
