SUMMARY:Lakes Entrance workshop: Decisions that drive success – Proven techniques for effective on-farm decision-making
DESCRIPTION:Success depends on sound decision-making. This is especially so in times of crisis and change. This Workshop provides a proven and practical approach to managing competing priorities so you can make better decisions\, rebuild your resilience and capacity and adapt your business to recover from drought and other challenges. \n\nLearning how to identify key trigger points or events for their farm business\, review strategic priorities and know how to optimise resources to mitigate risks\, manage costs and seize opportunities;\nImproving their readiness to respond to these trigger points to enable rapid pivoting and minimising disruptions to operations;\nIdentifying key stressors (internal/external) unique to their locality and business situation and learning how to navigate and prioritise risks and opportunities;\nBuilding capacity and confidence in making timely and sound decisions that support business profitability and know how to implement those decisions with on-track/off-track checkpoints and milestones; and\nStrengthening techniques to improve overall adaptability to challenges and change – including contingency planning and access

SUMMARY:GRDC Herbicide Behaviour Workshop – Narrabri
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will focus on the biological pathways and environmental factors that influence herbicide performance\, along with interactions that may occur when products are mixed and will be delivered by ICAN Senior Consultant Mark Congreve. Herbicide resistance is also changing product use. In many situations\, products and mixtures that previously worked are now less effective. \nParticipants will leave with a better understanding of the key factors dictating herbicide performance and what can be done in the paddock to ensure weed control is maximised. Knowing what weeds will be controlled from a herbicide application is the easy bit – it’s on the label. \nMore challenging questions include: \n\nWhy do herbicides perform or fail in some situations? How do environmental factors influence this?\nWhat can happen when we tank mix? * Critical comments on the label. Why are they important?\nHow do adjuvants and water conditioning agents work? What should be used\, when and why?\nHow does resistance affect different herbicides? What strategies can be used as resistance emerges?\nHow do residual herbicides work and what influences their breakdown? Workshop numbers will be capped to ensure effective participation.\n\nWorkshop registrations will be accepted on a first-in basis and a ‘wait list’ will be established for workshops that sell out.

SUMMARY:Landscape Enterprise Networks Natural Capital program
DESCRIPTION:Collaborate on Australia’s first Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) Natural Capital program in the Hunter/Gloucester region\nThis workshop is open to farmers and land managers in the Gloucester and surrounding regions\, and supply chain / corporate orgaainitnisations with a reliance on the landscape. \nLandscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) is a proven European Natural Capital model that brings farmers\, supply chains and government together to co-invest and collaborate on landscape-scale outcomes across carbon\, soil health\, biodiversity\, water health\, and climate resilience. Since 2021\, LENs has already channeled $50m AUD to farmers for implementing regenerative on-farm practices\, and scaled to 80\,000 hectares of land across 7 regions. 350 farms across Europe are now participating in the LENs program\, and in 2025 49\,000t of carbon emissions were reduced or removed. \nFarmers and supply chain partners operating in the Hunter/Gloucester region are invited to attend the workshop at Woko Station in May to learn about LENs and explore opportunities for long-term involvement in the Hunter/Gloucester program.\nFunding for this 18-month LENs program has been provided by the NSW Government – Department of Climate Change\, Energy\, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
