What is Build?
Build is the first section of the new Farm Table ecosystem that will go live on November 9.
Build is an online agricultural knowledge library with pre-populated information toolkits for farmers from all across Australia and across different industry specialisations to access from their desktop, phone or tablet.
Why was it developed?
Accessing good quality and relevant farm production and business information online can be difficult. Build is made for those farmers that want to continually grow their knowledge base online while on-farm, but don’t have the time to be searching endlessly on Google for what they are looking for.
Why is it called Build?
Getting the foundations right and continuing to develop our knowledge is essential to a strong farming future. Build, by definition, means to order or unite materials gradually to form a composite whole.
The Farm Table knowledge library does just this.
It brings together resources from across Australia and the world and arranges the pieces in such a way that a farmer can start to build and grow their knowledge.
Is it just for beginners?
No, Build is for farmers of all ages and experience levels.
For the first time, a farmer can enter a topic area, and filter by confidence level (introductory, intermediate and advanced). If a farmer clicks advanced, they are provided with research and trial articles relevant to their topic of interest. If they click introductory, the resources are more general in nature for those just starting out.
But, we don’t stop there.
We don’t just aggregate and filter great content (that’s going half the way), we also have taken the time to write the key findings and results in plain English that make practical sense on the ground. Build concentrates on how the resource and findings are relevant to a farmer in order to make the information more accessible, relevant and practical.
What toolkits will you have?
Toolkits are broken up into two key areas: 1) Production and 2) Business & Financial Management
Example toolkits include:
- Production: Beef Cattle, Sheep & Wool, Dairy, Irrigation & Water, Horticulture
- Management: Business Planning, Financial Management, Marketing, Risk, Succession Planning, People and Human Resources
Each toolkit has sub-headings so you can easily filter based on the topic you want.
The launch on November 9 is just the beginning and new toolkits and resources will be continually added.
Can businesses or individuals add their own resources?
Absolutely. We believe good content is only useful if it gets in the hands of the ones that need it most.
The Farm Table is about building a collective knowledge ecosystem for the Australian agricultural industry. A key part of this is ensuring we have the best content and information in a place that farmers can easily access it.
If you have some great research material, production templates or business guides, we would love to host them on the Farm Table. This gives your business or organisation a place to share great content and build your brand.
