The Local Economic Recovery  Program (LER) aims to boost local economies by providing funding to South Australia’s communities and industries most affected by 2019–20 bushfires. This program is co-funded by the Australian and South Australian Governments under the National Bushfire Recovery Fund.

Landholders recovery

$8.9 million will support landholders recovery on KI and in Cudlee Creek.

Grape, cherry and olive growers

$5.9 million will support grape, cherry, and olive growers to rebuild and recover.

Growers to undertake rejuvenation and replanting

Grape growers will be able to access up to:

  • $7,500/ha for crop rejuvenation
  • $15,000/ha for crop replanting.

Cherry growers will be able to access up to:

  • $15,000/ha for crop rejuvenation
  • $30,000/ha for crop replanting.

Olive growers will be able to access up to:

  • $7,500/ha for crop rejuvenation
  • $15,000/ha for crop replanting.

To access funding for crop rejuvenation and replanting, you will need to provide equivalent cash and/or in-kind co-contribution.

South Australian Apiary Industry

$680,000 will support the South Australian Apiary Industry through:

  • development of an app – what grows here best for bees
  • development of an eco-tourism initiative – ’SA Trail of Many Honeys’
  • a honey profiling project – ‘Discovering SA’s honey bioactivity’.

This project is being delivered in partnership with the South Australian Apiary Association.
