October 13 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
FREE

EVENT DESCRIPTION

3 to 6 pm

Join fellow farmers for a practical, on-farm workshop designed to help you get the most out of the Wimmera soil moisture probe network and improve your grain storage practices.

The workshop will include presentations, an inspection of a soil moisture probe and grain silos, followed by dinner.

Presenters

Dale Boyd, Agriculture Victoria

Seasonal risk agronomist Dale Boyd will provide a seasonal update of the soil moisture profiles in the Wimmera region. He will present some of the key indicators that farmers and agronomists should be examining from the data sets to maximise the benefits from investment in this technology.

Tim Powell, Integrated Irrigation

Tim will demonstrate the full range of features from the soil moisture probes rolled out to farmers through the Wimmera CMA, with a focus on how farmers can easily access and apply the data to support on-farm decisions.

Chris Warrick, grain storage best practice

Grain storage specialist Chris Warrick will help you optimise your on-farm grain storage. Chris will cover the latest GRDC research on fumigation and venting options, managing pests in bags, pest prevention options and cost-effective storage strategies
