Since 1988 Coolaroo and Illawarra have been committed to developing the Australian Alpaca through the application of advanced reproduction techniques & SRS Breeding. Storybook’s initial involvement with alpacas commenced in 2003 when Rubey was but 3 years of age, height/weight ratio, kind of cria size. Ironically, her first childhood recollections are at Coolaroo.

Coolawarra’s longevity is a consequence of the best of old world genetics and experienced breeding including national champions, Windsong Valley Iceman and Regal House Mr Darcy. Alongside high impact sires – Marriglen Mars, Illawarra Yucatan, Purrumbete Minderoo, Purrumbette Highlander and Prestige Valentino.
Results to date are producing consistently advanced characteristics of High Follicle Density, Deep/Bold Crimp, low micron levels in primary fibres and strong boned frames with excellent conformation.

Storybook Alpacas is delighted to carry this Coolawarra history to the next chapter. With herd numbers estimated for 2018-19 over 1,200 and operating on 3 properties in the NSW Southern Highlands – Genovia, Milton Mae & Coolaroo we are ready for the challenge.
