Five Drought Resilience Scholarships
This program receives funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
The $5 billion Future Drought Fund is an investment by the Australian Government to build drought resilience in Australia’s agriculture sector, landscapes and communities. Each year, $100 million is made available to help Australian farms and communities prepare for the impacts of drought. These scholarships focus on building drought resilience. We encourage applicants to consider study topic ideas relating to this theme.
Drought Resilience Scholarship Program
The Future Drought Fund will fund five Nuffield Australia Drought Resilience Scholarships in 2027. To be considered for a 2027 scholarship, you apply in 2026.
Applications for the 2027 Nuffield Australia Drought Resilience Scholarships will open on Monday 16 February 2026.

The Future Drought Fund has partnered with Nuffield Australia to support farmers who want to learn more about drought resilience. Through this program, selected scholars travel across Australia and overseas to study how farmers can better prepare for drought and meet experts who are leading change in agriculture. Scholars share what they learn with their peers and communities to strengthen Australian agriculture.
The first stage of the program provided $1.6 million for 10 scholarships in 2024 and 2025 and supported all Nuffield scholars take part in drought-related activities.
