The Plan is intended to provide government and industry with the tools needed to maintain and improve Australia’s plant biosecurity system and safeguard the grains industry.

Components of the biosecurity plan:

• identifies and ranks exotic high priority pests and other pests of biosecurity significance
• guides biosecurity activities according to pest prioritisation and activity gap analysis
• outlines the pest risk assessment by threat, potential for entry, establishment, and spread as well as potential economic impact
• summaries risk mitigation activities and guidelines for managing risk at all operational levels
• details national response agreements and processes to effectively respond to incursions.
