ExoFlare was founded by Adrian Turner, formerly CEO of CSIRO’s Data61 and Chris Aitken, a senior technology expert in industrial safety analytics, who recognised that the food system will increasingly be contested by biological threats. We see this already with the rising number and frequency of disease outbreaks and incursions, including the heightened threat of Foot and Mouth Disease and Lumpy Skin Disease in the red meat industry, and Avian Influenza in the poultry industry.

The current biosecurity system is not fit-for-purpose to manage biological threats, especially at the farm and along the supply chain. Right now, for many producers, biosecurity is in the ‘too-hard-basket’, leading to a compliance mentality at best. ExoFlare puts biosecurity threat management tools into the hands of producers so that they can actively and effectively manage biosecurity risk as a normal and integral part of daily operations.

ExoFlare is developing new digital biosecurity infrastructure for food industries to move out of compliance and into active biosecurity threat management. 

The ultimate benefit of this system  will be the ability for food producers to return quickly to normal operation following a disease or pest incursion.
