Soil Health and Function Forum
June 6 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
FREENational Soil Health and Function Forum
Australias farming systems are undergoing significant transformation, with soil health and function as a critical component for sustainable, productive and climate resilient farm businesses. As farmers implement more advanced and holistic soil management practices, the need to better understand and support soil health and function continues to grow.
Building on recent initiatives such as the Grounds for Growth event, Dairy Australia is convening a targeted group of farmers, technical specialists, researchers, and industry leaders (invitation only) from across Australia to participate in a high-level think-tank. The forum aims to identify priority areas for research, development and extension (RD&E) in soil health and function within the dairy industry.
This one-day summit will:
- Explore key components of soil function & health relevant to dairy systems including biological, physical, chemical components, biodiversity, carbon and the influence of soil ameliorants.
- Assess current gaps and opportunities in soil-related RD&E based on national and industry learnings to date.
- Identify and prioritise future investments in soil health RD&E that go beyond the traditional scope incorporating practical farmer experience, broader industry perspectives, and a more innovative approach to soil science in dairying.
