2019 Food, Fibre and Agricultural Educators Conference
January 13 - January 17
Farming has changed significantly over the years and today’s teachers need to know how modern agriculture is adapting to continue to feed and clothe us sustainably while protecting the environment. AgForce SIPP presents the Food, Fibre and Agriculture Educators Conference in January 2019 to provide professional development for teachers and agriculture assistants interested in agriculture, science and technology. The conference will be the largest of its kind held in Queensland, and is an initiative of the AgForce School to Industry Partnership Program.
The conference will upskill teachers on current agricultural practices and equip them with the knowledge of the wide range of career and training opportunities for students in plants, animal, science and rural industries; reinvigorate interest in primary industries and in particular agriculture, by demonstrating that it is a valuable and high-tech industry operating at the cutting-edge of science and technology; and bring agriculture back into the forefront of education by showing teachers that agriculture is vital to our future prosperity. Our goal is to bring cutting edge technology concepts to the classrooms, to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke conversations that matter within agricultural and technology, to ensure our teachers are equipped to teach the next generation of our industry.
The program is designed to give teachers the currency needed to teach agriculture in schools, whilst ensuring they have the latest information and resources to promote agriculture as a career to their students. It will allow teachers from around the country to interact, share experiences and to create life-long networks.
